Learning Something New
A while back we talked about New Year’s Resolutions. If you recall, I don’t buy into them. They set you up for failure but there’s nothing wrong with having goals for yourself.
This year I reviewed some of my goals and on my list was this obscure note to myself:
LEARN SOMETHING NEW
At the time I didn’t know what that something was going to be. I thought it might be related to my writing or my spiritual life. As it turns out, now, I think I know.
Let’s be clear, I’m learning a lot this year. I consider myself a lifelong learner because you can never know too much and you’ll never know everything.
Lately, I’ve been a little addicted to watching cake decorating programs. If you know anything about me you know that I usually don’t fixate on things like food because of my ahem…sugar addiction. You also know that I don’t like cooking so why in the world am I so into decorating cakes.
Do you remember your first cake?
Me neither. I think I was so little, but I do know that I had a sweet tooth early on in my life.
One of my goals this year is to be more healthy and to focus on diet and exercise. However, I also know that I’m not the kind of person who can deny myself sugar for the rest of my life.
So watching Man About Cake gave me an idea:
How cool would it be to be the person who shows up at the party with the exquisitely designed cake? The one that doesn’t just look amazing but tastes amazing too?
I’m doing some research and I’ll get back to you when I figure out the numbers for this little venture, but I’d love to try a baker’s hat on and see if it fits. Stay close and I’ll let you know how it goes.
What new thing have you learned this year?
