N is for Needles and Nuts
When did I become squeamish about needles and nuts about my vegetables?
This is for my dearest daughter and those that may be dealing with or know someone dealing with diabetes. I am focusing on type 2 because 90 to 95 percent of all cases are type 2.
Type 2 diabetes can require that you have to use the needle. This can happen when your body is unable to make enough insulin or is unable to utilize it effectively. This can be a scary feeling I’m not going to lie. Even when you get good direction on the how to give yourself a shot of insulin, it’s unnerving, to say the least.
Is there a light at the end of this tunnel of needles? Diabetes is a chronic disease. You will have to live with it but it doesn’t have to be the focus of your life. You may have to monitor your blood sugar, or take medication, but you are never left without some direction to follow.
This diagnosis is not always because of family genetics. Getting checked out and doing some preventive care may help to get a handle on this before it gets started or more complicated.
Those healthy images we see today all over are reminders that we need to take time to be healthy and get healthier. Serious complications can occur, so being healthy is the key. I became nuts about my vegetables because I became smart about what I needed to take my life to the next nutritious level. When we show our bodies some kindness, we may not have to be at the place of where we may need those needles.
Our physical well being is like any other way we look to heal or set healthy practices in our life. We have to pay close attention to our bodies and visit your physician regularly. Working out can also help.
I’ve learned to love my vegetables steamed or raw, which has the most nutrients. There are diabetic cookbooks that can also help if needed.
Let’s not get to where we need needles but always to be nuts about our veggies and overall health.
